A boiler technician does a variety of work in both preventative care and emergency response. Boiler technicians ensure systems run safely and efficiently. Many go on to specialize in areas like welding and combustion optimization.

The Navy does not still have boiler technicians. The U.S. Navy hasphased out the formal title of “Boiler Technician.” Those responsibilities have been absorbed by the Machinist’s Mate rating.

The course you need for a boiler to train as a boiler technician is more than just one course. A variety of courses covering everything from electrical work and welding to pipe fitting, control systems, and beyond are required along with hands-on experience.
